Chelsea- Thomas James Allen, 69, died peacefully on March 6, 2025, at Central Maine
Medical Center in Lewiston, following a long illness.
Tom was born in Gardiner, Maine on October 4, 1955, the son of the late Sanford E.
Allen and Arlene A. (Malaney) Gervais. He attended local schools and earned his high
school diploma. He served proudly in the United States Army from 1975-1981
Tom loved hunting at the camp in Moscow and his property in Chelsea. He enjoyed
fishing on Sheepscot Lake, Togus Pond and 4 wheeling and snowmobiling with family
and friends on the trails in Moscow, Bingham and Chelsea. Tom especially loved being
outdoors, whether he was cutting 4 wheeling trails, picking black berries on the power
lines or working in his garden. He was a woodworker and earned the nickname
"MacGyver" because he could fix anything. His greatest love was spending time with
family and especially his grandchildren, attending their school and sporting events.
He loved being at home in his grandfather's house, a real home body.
He was a very proud veteran and would always attend Memorial Day Service at Maine
Veterans Cemetery rain or shine. He was a true Patriot.
Tom is survived by a daughter, Kimberly (Steven) Whittemore of Chelsea; a son, Joshua
(Casandra) Allen of Chelsea; 4 grandchildren, Clayton Allen, Vassalboro, Daphney
Allen, Chelsea, David Whittemore of Chelsea, Elizabeth Burns of Whitefield; 2 brothers
Wayne (Paula) Allen of Whitefield, Jeffrey Allen of Chelsea; 3 sisters, Sandra (Tom)
McNeil of Pittsfield, Charlene (Chuck) McFarland West Gardiner, Barbara ( Slater)

A heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Central Maine Medical Center ICU unit and Life Flight of Maine who provided outstanding care.
