Teresa "Terrie" Gail McCamey Abbe, 59, passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, June 13, 2025, at UT Southwestern in Dallas. She was born March 4, 1966, to Jimmy Don and Berta Ruth Fitch McCamey in
Corsicana, Texas. She was a graduate from Corsicana High School in 1984 where she met the love of her life, David Abbe Jr. She married David in September of 1984 and that where the all the interesting adventures started for them. David and Terrie were blessed with 2 boys who provided them with 6 grandchildren. Those adventures included horse shows, food poisoning, hating cheese, baseball games, hollering at umpires, Harley rides, pizza parties and ice cream, her method punishments, and making the best chocolate milk for the grandkids. She loved Halloween and loved to dress up. She dressed up multiple times as David to embarrass her two boys at school.
Terrie worked for 31 years in the insurance industry helping numerous people. She received her bachelor's degree and started working at the Henderson County Help Center and continued to help people through troubling times. She was an inspirational Sunday school teacher and youth leader for 9 years. She led multiple youth missions in helping the homeless and assisting the less fortunate. Her passion and love were her kids and grandkids. She believed that the sound of a child's laugh was the sound of heaven on earth. Terrie had a contagious laugh, sparkling smile, was a spit fire, the life of the party, spoke her mind, and always had a hug to give. Above all, she loved her family beyond measure.
Terrie was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents, her beloved father Jimmy Don McCamey, mother-in-law Barbara Easley Abbe, father-in-law David Abbe Sr, and brother-in-law Mike Hopson.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, David Abbe Jr, her mother Berta Fitch McCamey, sons Cory Abbe and wife Jessica, Cody Abbe and wife Jordan, Grandkids Justyn Abbe, Cayden Abbe, Trace Luther, Jaxyn Abbe, Elijah Abbe, and Madalyn Abbe, sisters Dianne McCamey Hopson, Monnie McCamey Metcalfe and husband Jimmy, Brother-in-law Chris Abbe and wife Whitney Abbe, best friend Carey Westergom, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be on July 13, 2025, from 2pm-4pm at Griffin Roughton Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be from 2pm-3pm with services following. Services will be led by Pastor Tim Easley and Pastor Eddie Jones.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Henderson County Help Center and Maggie's House Child Advocacy Center in Terrie's name or to Healing Bread Ministry to assist in helping the homeless.
