Tarik Dinha Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Potere-Modetz Funeral Home - Rochester on Oct. 28, 2025.
Tarik Yelda Dinha, born (Sunrise) on July 10, 1948, in Baghdad, Iraq, passed away surrounded by family and love on October 27, 2025 (Sunset). He was the beloved son of the late Yelda and Salema Dinha.
Tarik came to the United States in 1967, where he built a beautiful life and family. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Jo Dinha (Nieman), his loving children, Robin Zurla (Dinha) and Tarik Dinha II (Lauren), and his cherished grandchildren, Tarik III (15), Blake (13), and Asher (9).
He is also survived by his siblings Khalid Dinha, Eddie Dinha, Emel Namo (Dinha), Nahida Shouneyia (Dinha), and Widad Kassab (Dinha), and preceded in death by his brother Salem Dinha.
First and foremost, Tarik was a loving father and an even more devoted grandfather. He was also a caring husband, brother, and son and friend to many. Known for his incredible generosity, Tarik had one of the biggest hearts, he would give his last dollar to anyone in need without hesitation. He brought laughter and light wherever he went, with a gift for telling jokes and lifting the spirits of everyone around him.
In his younger years, Tarik loved playing soccer and swimming in the Tigris River in Iraq. He carried that same joy for life throughout his years in America. He had a deep affection for animals, especially his beloved dogs Muffin and Maggie, and his talkative bird Chico.
Despite facing many health challenges, Tarik's strength and determination never wavered. He continued to fight with courage, humor, and love until his final breath. His kindness, laughter, and generosity will be forever remembered by all who were blessed to know him.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 30, at 10:30 AM at Saint Andrews Catholic Church (1400 Inglewood Ave Rochester, MI 48307). Viewing will begin at 10:30 AM, followed by Mass at 11:00 AM, with interment at Mount Avon Cemetery (400 Sixth St Rochester, MI 48307) immediately after.
