Sue Bush Blakeley, 74, of Louisville, passed away Monday, August 8th, 2022.
Sue was born and raised in Louisville to James and Mildred Bush. She was a graduate of Atherton High School and then she graduated from EKU and received her Masters at U of L. She taught 1st grade 26 years at Carter Traditional Elementary School. Sue was a longtime member and Director Emeritus of Lakeside Swim Club. She was also a lifelong member of Bardstown Rd. Presbyterian Church. Mostly, she was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend to her extended family all over.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mildred Bush, and one brother, Alan Bush. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Martin Blakeley; her sons, Aaron Smith (Jessica) and Paul Blakeley (Melissa); her grandchildren, Sydney, Erika, Mathias and A.J.; and her sister, Jean Rice.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 11th from 4-8pm at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. Her funeral will be Friday at 10am at Bardstown Rd Presbyterian Church, 1722 Bardstown Rd, 40205, with burial to follow at Cave Hill Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy can be made to her church.
