Stephen John Costello Sr. "Sonny"
May 30, 1937 - February 24, 2025
Stephen John Costello Sr., affectionately known as "Sonny," passed away peacefully on February 24, 2025, at the age of 87, in Palm Coast, Florida. Born on May 30, 1937, in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Stephen was a first-generation American who lived a life of service, love, and dedication to his family and country.
Stephen proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps, embodying the values of honor, courage, and commitment. His time in the military shaped him into a disciplined and resilient man, traits he carried throughout his life. After his service, Stephen worked as a wastewater supervisor, retiring with the same diligence and pride he brought to every aspect of his life.
In 2002, Stephen and his beloved wife, Scarlet Marie Costello, moved to Palm Coast, Florida, where they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Stephen was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He is survived by his loving wife, Scarlet; his children, Michael Andrew and Robert Glen; his stepchildren, Elyza and Tina Marie: five grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and five step-great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his three brothers, Bernard, Ronald (a Green Beret), and Florian.
Stephen was preceded in death by his parents, Florian Costello and Anna Federinitz; his son, Stephen John Costello Jr.; and one sister, Geraldine (Jerry).
Stephen's legacy is one of unwavering strength, kindness, and love. He was a man who valued family above all else, and his home was always filled with warmth and joy. He had a deep sense of pride in his country and his service, and he instilled those values in his children and grandchildren.
"A life well-lived is a legacy of love, resilience, and service. Stephen's journey was a testament to the power of family, the importance of duty, and the beauty of a life filled with purpose. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him."
The family would like to extend their gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.
Stephen's life was a beacon of love and strength, and his memory will forever be a blessing to those who knew him. Semper Fi, Steve.
"The legacy of a life well-lived is not measured in years, but in the love we give, the lives we touch, and the memories we leave behind."
