Stephen Jay Aaron, Sr., 75, of Belton, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born August 7, 1949, in Lyons, GA, he was the son of the late James Devon Aaron and the late Buena Aaron Snellings.
Steve was a man with many God-given abilities. He is remembered by many for his ability to find humor in most circumstances of life. He was an avid gardener and loved to watch things grow and transform. This carried over to his working with his hands and repairing and restoring anything that was broken. Known to many as the ultimate "fix-it" man, he was also a piano tuner for many in his community. His passion for repairing and restoring brokenness carried over into his life as a minister. He earned his Master of Religious Education (MRE) from Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Over his forty years of full-time ministry, he served in various pastoral roles at First Baptist Kingstree, SC, London Bridge Baptist Church Virginia Beach, VA, First Baptist Church Simpsonville, SC, First Baptist Church Florence, SC, and Brushy Creek Baptist Church Taylors, SC. He spent his last nine years of ministry at Valley Community Baptist Church in Avon, CT, where he served as Pastor of Marriage and Families. His joy in ministry was equipping men to lead their families to know and love Jesus. He was passionate about serving others and impacted many through his life of ministry. His greatest joy was being a husband, father, and grandfather.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Judy Cox Aaron; Children, Anna Harvey (Chet), Stephen Jay Aaron, Jr. (Laya), and Elizabeth Power (John); grandchildren, Mae Harvey, Win Harvey, Sawyer Aaron, Aylah Aaron, Calvin Aaron, Eliot Power, Timothy Power, Luke Power, Judson Power, Jay Power, and Maggie Power; and brothers, Devon Aaron of Greenwood, SC, and Ransom Snellings of Augusta, GA.
In addition to his parents, Steve is preceded in death by his stepfather, Herbert Snellings, and by his brother, James Gary Aaron of California.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Thursday, March 27, 2025, at First Baptist Church Belton. A burial will follow at Williamston Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 3:30 PM until 5:30 PM at the church. For those who cannot attend, the service will be available via livestream on First Baptist Church Belton's Facebook Page.

To the Aaron Family, We are so sorry for your loss. When Steve was a pastor in CT at Valley Community Baptist Church, he renewed our marriage vows, and also mentored our daughter and future son in law before their marriage. He was always so pleasant, helpful and kind. We feel blessed to have known him.
