Robert Harris Obituary

Robert E. Harris (Bob/Eddie), age 80, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 14, 2020, in Los Alamos, NM.
Eddie was born in Brownfield, TX, Saturday, August 3, 1940. He was the second oldest of six children by his mother Mary (French) Newby. He married Linda Mae Wherley on Saturday, June 6, 1964 in Albuquerque, NM.
Eddie was raised by his father Floyd Harris and mother, Mary, in Tesuque, NM. He attended Santa Fe High School where he was active in football and track & field. In 1964, Eddie moved to Los Alamos to begin working at Los Alamos National Laboratory. He worked as a senior designer at LANSCE until his retirement in 2000. Upon retiring, Eddie enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in local sports activities.
In his earlier years, Eddie enjoyed camping and fishing with his family in addition to riding motorcycles with his friends Harry Williams and Dale VanBuren. He was an exceptional parent when it came to supporting his children while participating in youth sports. Coming from family of craftsmen, Eddie was an excellent craftsman when it came to cabinet making and general carpentry.
Eddie was preceded in death by his wife Linda. He is survived by their two children, Robbie Harris (Michelle) of Los Alamos, Debbie Rivera (Phil) of Los Alamos; grandchildren, Gavin and Trevor Pacheco, Lance Rivera, and Lauren and Jenna Harris of Los Alamos.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Harris and Mary Newby and his sisters, Billie Sloan (Don) of Lubbock, TX, and Molliette Whitted (Rob) of Santa Fe, NM. He is also survived by his sisters, Louise Boyer of Albuquerque, Sally Ann Betts (Dave) of Montrose, CO, and Celia Baca of Santa Fe.
A Private Memorial Service will be held at Guaje Pines Cemetery in Los Alamos, NM. A Celebration of Life will be announced when public health conditions permit. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Heart Association.
