Robert Bagian Obituary

On Thursday June 3rd, 2021, Dr. Robert “Bob” George Bagian passed away in his home at the age of 67, surrounded by his loving family, after a long battle with cancer.

Bob was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to his parents Philip and Rose Bagian. After graduating from Central High School, he attended Temple University and continued on to medical school at Thomas Jefferson University with postgraduate training at the Geisinger Medical Center. He was Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and worked as an emergency medicine physician in both Philadelphia and the midstate before transitioning to occupational medicine for the last twenty years of his career where he practiced clinically while also serving as a Regional Medical Director for a period of time. It was while working as an emergency medicine physician that he met his wife of 33 years, Kathy, a nurse, and they married in 1987.

While living in Dillsburg, he actively supported the community in a variety of ways from assisting in set construction for dramatic productions at Northern High School--and continuing to do so long after his children had graduated--to serving as one of the scout leaders for Boy Scout Troop 203. Bob was also a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. In his free time, Bob was an avid shooter, with his activities ranging from sporting clays to Cowboy action shooting with the Single Action Shooting Society, where he also assisted in an administrative capacity. Bob also served as a firearms safety instructor for the National Rifle Association in order to ensure that his favorite hobby could continue to be enjoyed safely by all who were interested.

Bob was a loving husband to Kathy, a beloved father to Philip and Lauren and his son-in-law Ross, a caring brother to Jim, and a cherished son to Rose. He was also an adored uncle, great-uncle, cousin, and a faithful friend to many. Bob made the people in his life the foundation of everything that he did, benefiting those around him in immeasurable ways that will continue to be felt long into the future.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 897, Hershey, PA 17033.

I am very sorry for your loss. I always looked forward to our conversations whether it be pertaining to patient care, family, or just life's tribulations. He always had a story to share to put a smile on your face. As a husband, father, and medical provider there are some big shoes to fill to carry on his legacy.

I will miss his brilliant mind, his sharp wit and his kind heart. I will never forget how very fortunate I was to be counted among his friends. My heart is broken. My thoughts and prayers are for Ms. Kathy, Phil and Lauren and all the Bagian family. I'm just so very sorry!
