RICHARD J. HOWER
Richard J. Hower, 77 of Brooklyn Township, PA went home to be with the Lord on November 5, 2025. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Karen Hower; his children, Mary C. Hower and John Hower; grandson, Miles Rush; great granddaughter, Naolani; great grandson, Quincey; a brother, Charlie (Theora) Hower; niece, Deborah (Dean) Fabritz; nephew, Greg Jervis (Kathy); daughter-in-law, Lori Rush Hower and her brother, Chris Rush. He was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Marion Hower; his sister, Sandy; and a brother, Billy Hower.
Rich graduated from Mountain View High School in 1966. He entered the Navy and served from 1966-1970, aboard the USS Catskill MCS1. He was trained to service Boilers during his time with the Navy. This led to his long-time career working on boilers for Proctor and Gamble for 26 years and then for Moses Taylor Hospital for 10 years. He was an active member of the South New Milford Baptist Church, serving as deacon, trustee, and working with youth at Awana. Rich was known as "Mr. Fix It" to his family and church community. Whether it was cars, computers, or any malfunctioning thing. He was a good man, a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 15, 2025 at the South New Milford Baptist Church, New Milford, PA. Friends may greet the family from 10-11 a.m., at the church, prior to the service. Should friends so desire, expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to South New Milford Baptist Church, Deacon's Fund, 2967 Harford Road, New Milford, PA 18834.

I am so sorry Karen, Mary, and family for your loss. Rich was my decon and I knew I could count on him praying for me and I will remember him every time I go up and down my basement steps cause even though he told me he wasn't a carpenter him and Mary got the job done. Maybe he didn't feel like he was a carpenter but like Jesus he worked in many hearts. Building them up, his smile to someone, many ways he was a carpenter. I will really miss him. Karen Grubb
