Richard Harwood Obituary
Dick attended Neenah schools and Vocational School in the Fox Valley. He began his career as an Optician in 1955 and went into dispensing and sales. In 1961 he became an employee of Uhlemann Optical in Stevens Point and was there until he joined the Rice Clinic in 1974 as a dispensing optician. He retired in 1992.
Dick married Josephine (Joey) Crawford on February 18, 1954. They raised six children; Debra (Toby) Knippel, Susan (Rex) Weronke, Richard Harwood, Dennis (Diane) Harwood, Jacqueline (Ken) Hoerter, and Barbara (Brad) Harwood Flatoff. They were blessed with 12 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Dick was preceded in death by his parents and only brother, John.
A Memorial service will be held at Frame Memorial Presbyterian Church (1300 Main Street, Stevens Point, WI) at 11:00am on Tuesday, May 31. Friends may call from 10:00am until the time of the service.
If desired, memorial donations, in Dick's name, may be made to the Portage County Humane Society or Frame Memorial Presbyterian Church.
The family would like to thank Stevens Point Health Services, Aspirus Hospice Staff, and special caregiver Ashlynn for the outstanding care, compassion and love that they gave to Dick and the family.

Dick gave me my first job as a dispensing optician while I was going to tech school to get my degree. He was a great and admired mentor, because of him I was hired at prestige optical and had a wonderful career as a dispensing optician. I have always been great full and thought of him fondly. I´m so sorry for your loss and wanted you to know he touched many lives.
