Paul was born in Waterbury, CT on April 5, 1941 to the late Paul and Thelma (Hastings) Winterhalder.
After graduating from the University of Connecticut, Paul was a social worker in Waterbury for 10 years before moving to Souris, Prince Edward Island, Canada in 1975 with first wife, Alice (Clinton) and two children. Over the years in PEI, Paul established a series of successful businesses - including a local department store, the self-named Paul's Pizzeria, and a regional video distribution business.
Paul had an avid interest in flying, and obtained a small engine pilot's license - owning a string of single-engine aircrafts over the years.
Paul and Alice separated into friendship in the 90's and then he returned to Connecticut and got his Real Estate license. Paul met his wife, June Ford and has enjoyed 20 years of adventures together. Residing in Wallingford, Paul's interests were traveling and camping, the local German Club, Karaoke, the Elks, VFW, and anywhere merry people gather. Paul and June enjoyed regular trips to Canada to visit family and take in the beauty of Prince Edward Island.
Paul is survived by his wife June, son Paul Jr. and daughter Susan, grandchildren Ben, Julia, Charlie, Jack and Heidi, sister Beverly (Tignor) and brother Robert (Winterhalder), and June's children Michael and Tammy and June's grandchildren Stephanie and Melissa.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 15, 2022 at 11am at Evergreen Cemetery located at 183 North St. Watertown, CT 06795. Everyone who wishes to attend is asked to gather directly at the cemetery as there will be no calling hours.
