Doris Jean (Diffenderfer) Spahr, 90, of Chambersburg, PA, went to be with the Lord, July 27, 2024, with family by her side after a brief illness. She was born October 30, 1933, in Chambersburg, PA to the late Robert Elem and Lillian Catherine (Farner) Diffenderfer. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Lewis Spahr; three sons, Jeffrey Lee Spahr, Barry Robert Spahr, Gary Preston Spahr; and granddaughter, Tina Lee Spahr.
Doris graduated from Chambersburg Area High School in 1951. She retired from Cigna Insurance and moved back to Chambersburg in 1994. Nothing was more important to Doris than her family. She enjoyed cooking, reading, needlepoint, and volunteering at the Salvation Army.
She is survived by grandson, William Nicholas Spahr (wife Emily) of TN; Geoffrey Preston Spahr of TN; and two great grandchildren Fiona and Brecken of TN; one step-grandson Peter MacBeth of IN; and one step-great grandson, Ethan MacBeth of IN; sister-in-law, Jackalen Spahr (deceased husband Preston H.) of Shippensburg; brother-in-law Dennis Spahr (wife Kathy) of SC; daughter-in-law of 19 years Ellen Parsons (deceased husband Gary) of TN; nephew Preston Spahr (wife Darrie) of Mercersburg; and niece Courtney Anderson (husband Roger) of Newville; nephew Tyler Duke (wife Meagan) of TN; numerous great nieces and nephews; and her lifetime friend Ginny Adams of Chambersburg.
At Doris’s request, services will be private. Interment will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Memorial Contributions “In Memory of Doris Spahr” may be made in lieu of flowers to Grane Hospice Care, 1200 Camp Hill Bypass, Suite 205, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
