Nelle Williams Adams, age 90, of Smithfield, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. Born in Johnston County on November 8, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Major Daniel and Ola Mae Smith Williams. She was preceded in death by her husband Erwood Lee "Dick" Adams, Sr.

Nelle was a longtime member and former deacon at Selma Original Free Will Baptist Church. She was employed in the Receiving Department at Sylvania until they moved from Smithfield and then worked as an Executive Assistant with the Selma Housing Authority for many years. Always busy, Nelle also worked at Becky's Log Cabin Inn in various capacities for 20 years and was a volunteer at Johnston Memorial Hospital for 30 years. She loved to play golf and also loved line dancing and square dancing. She was a charter member of the Smithfield Moose Lodge and a member of Cardinal Country Club.

The family will receive friends at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma on Thursday, September 25, from 6 to 7 pm followed by a funeral service at 7 pm. A private burial service will be in Selma Memorial Gardens.

Surviving are her children, Dickie Adams (Jenny) of Princeton, Barbara Narron (Bucky) of Selma, Ken Adams (Lynn) of Brevard, and Jamie Moore (Danny) of Meadow; brother Danny Williams of Wilson; sisters
Edna White of California, Dolores Kelly of Kinston; grandchildren Shane Adams, Melissa Stanley, Jordan Adams, Beth Rich, Emilie Adams, Dustin Narron and Olivia Coats; and seven great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Selma Original Free Will Baptist Church, PO Box 224, Selma, NC 27576.
