Mark McDonnell Anderson, age 56, of Victoria, MN, passed away on February 20, 2025 after a brief illness.
Mark was born August 7, 1968 in Indianapolis, IN, the son of Dean and Mary Anderson. He was raised in Greenwood (Excelsior), MN and was a 1987 graduate of Groves Academy. He worked various jobs (including at his family's company, Zinpro) and spent years volunteering with animal rescue organizations. It was through his job at Paws and Claws where he rescued his cats (his "boys"), Vann and Vance.
Preceding Mark in death are parents, Dean and Mary. His maternal and paternal grandparents.
Mark is survived by his loving life partner, Cheryl Blue and her family; daughter Kristen Hicks, son Ryan Blue and four granddaughters, Hailey, Harper, Haidyn, and Luci. Brother and best friend, Mike (Debi) and nieces; Lillian Hohag and Emma Anderson. His "boys" Vann and Vance and his dog, Ivy Rose
Mark had the most gentle soul, his love for people and animals never wavered, he devoted himself to helping others. Very little would ever get in the way of Mark showing up for his loved ones, he always found a way to get himself to where he felt he needed to be. He loved nothing more than keeping busy with Cheryl and family, he enjoyed car shows, museums, NASCAR races, concerts, puzzles, legos, gardening, and telling awesome jokes. Nature and the sun's rising and setting were his favorite things to capture. His second favorite hobby was cheering on the MN Wild, whether at home or with family at Xcel arena. His daily calls with Mike always included sports and politics, his lighthearted and humorous analysis will be deeply missed.
Mark leaves us feeling inspired and reminded of the importance of love and family. He found joy and meaning in living for others, we will love and miss him forever.
Inline with Mark's favorite activity and love of bowling at Country Club Lanes in Excelsior, a.k.a. his home away from home, we will be holding a private memorial gathering with family and friends to celebrate his life. His internment will be held this spring for family and friends at Resurrection Cemetery in Excelsior, MN.

Oh mark. This just breaks my heart. You were such an amazing neighbor to me and my family. Always coming outside to chat with kaia and I on the warm summer days we would sit outside on the stairs. Your love of our animals and your own was so heartwarming and sweet. My kitty loved to visit your boys through the window. Who will text me now when he´s outside? You will be missed here on Madelyn Creek. Your smile, always with a hand up to wave. Taking our garbage cans up. One of my favorite memories is when it was thundering and lightening and so windy I thought you might blow away. You didn´t care. You withstood the storm to pick up everyone´s garbage bins that had tumbled in the wind. You were just that kind. Remember the time you set off fireworks for all of us to watch? Probably hundreds of dollars worth.
The silence next door is deafening really. I can´t hear your movies playing and the bass up loud...too many times I asked you to turn it down haha but more often i let you enjoy it because part of me enjoyed it too. The noise reminding me I´m not alone here all day. You were next door. Your helpful, kind and generous spirit will be remembered forever. For everyone who loved mark, you have our deepest condolences.
