Madeline Cirillo Archer, age 72, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.
Madeline was born on June 8, 1952, in Sharon Hill, PA, a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Calise) Cirillo. She was the beloved wife of 41 years to the late Warren J. Archer. She is survived by her two sons, Thomas (Megan) Archer and Joseph Archer; her cherished grandchildren, Kirra and Lucas Archer, whom she adored. She is also survived by her sisters, Rosary (Bruno) Eiditis and Frances (Bill) Kennedy; her sister-in-law, Margaret Cirillo; and many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Madeline was preceded in death by her sister, Julie Cirillo, and her brother, Nick Cirillo.
Madeline was a woman of intellect and quiet strength. A scholar and a creative spirit, she held a lifelong passion for the arts, architecture, and literature-passions she generously shared with her children and grandchildren. She also loved to travel and collect fine china.
Under the pseudo name Madeline Hunter, she became an internationally bestselling author. She also spent several decades shaping minds and inspiring students as a dedicated professor at Duquesne University.
In her final weeks, Madeline formed a meaningful bond with Breck L., RN and Leigh E., CNA from Bridges Hospice. The family is deeply grateful for the care and compassion they provided.
Madeline loved spending time with her family. She passed down her love for arts and drawing to her grandchildren, Kirra and Lucas, loved to travel and vacation with her son, Thomas, and shared stories with thorough explanations with her well loved son, Joseph. She brought warmth and joy to those around her.
Family and friends are welcome on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Beinhauer Funeral Home, 2828 Washington Road, McMurray (724-941-3211). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Resurrection Parish, St. John Capistran Church.
