On February 18, Larry departed this life to be with Lord in Louisville, Kentucky at the Hildegard House, a non-profit hospice facility. Larry had relocated to Louisville from Henderson, KY and enjoyed his life there.

Larry was born in Evansville, Indiana, and was educated in the Evansville, Vanderburgh County School system before enlisting in the United States Army. Larry served both domestically and abroad in Korea and Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1982. Larry accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior in 2022 at One Accord World Outreach Church in Louisville, Kentucky. Larry had worked faithfully at the Louisville VA Hospital until his health began to fail him.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, Walter Jones, his mother, Rosetta Lester, and a sister, Louise Mitchell of Evansville. Larry loved his family and friends and would do anything for anyone, anytime. He was an avid sports fan and loved the Louisville Cardinals and the Green Bay Packers. He loved shooting pool, playing cards, and was nicknamed “Lucky” for his prowess and ability to win at whatever he put his hand or mind to doing.

He leaves to mourn his passing, a daughter, Rashida Collins and her daughter, Rashiya, his granddaughter, both of Cincinnati, Ohio, beloved nieces and nephews, cousins, some very special aunts, and a host of friends.

There will not be a formal visitation service. Final arrangements are being entrusted to Mason Brothers Funeral Home in Evansville, IN.
