Joseph E. Abraham; beloved husband of Joyamma (nee Thomas); loving father of Jenny (Jacob) Pallathumadom, Lucy (Tomy) Joseph and Jamie (Joel) Shery; devoted "Cha Cha" and "Grandpa" of Bryce and Mia; dear brother of Achamma (Chacko) Jacob, Mathew (Thresiamma) Abraham, Joy (Molly) Abraham, Thomas (Meena) Abraham, Alice (Alex) Mathew, late Mariyamma Abraham and the late Cicily (Thomas) Pannackal; fond brother-in-law of Tomy (Kochurani) Thomas, Lillamma (Dominic) Mathew, Babychan (Tessamma) Thomas, Jancy (Joseph) Augustine, Valsamma (Joy) Chakkappan and the late Raju (late Sheila) Thomas; also cherished uncle and friend of many.

Abraham Joseph, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away onSeptember 4, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on February 17, 1948, in Kaduthruithy, Kottayam, to Abraham and Anna Mathew. He was the eldest son of the Elanjikuzy family and was deeply loved by his parents and his six siblings. He has been married to his wife, Joyamma Joseph, for 45 years and they have 3 daughters-Jenny (Jacob), Lucy (Tomy) and Jamie (Joel)-and two cherished grandchildren, Bryce and Mia. Abraham was also a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews. Upon immigrating to America, Abraham became a respiratory therapist and dedicated over twenty years of service to the University of Chicago, where he formed many lifelong friendships. He often worked the night shift to provide for his family. Abraham's life was filled with love and laughter; he treasured his wife and guided his children with patience and unwavering support. He had a passion for cooking, and his famous beef fry recipe was always in high demand. In his free time, he enjoyed playing cards, following politics, watching soccer, and engaging in spirited gardening competitions with his wife. Over the last 4 years, as his health declined, he faced this battle with strength, resilience, and grace. He comforted his family as they struggled with this, and he never showed his pain. He accepted this as God's will. As a man of deep faith, Abraham found comfort and peace in prayer. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will take place at 10a.m. at Saint Thomas Syro-Malabar Cathedral. Abraham will be laid to rest at All Saints Cemetery.
