Jo Ann (Etherton) LaMar, 83, of Poseyville, Indiana, born October 4, 1941 to John Fulton and Elsie Marie (Barnes) Etherton in Bernie, Missouri, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 13, 2024 at her home in Poseyville, Indiana.
Jo Ann moved to Poseyville, Indiana as a child, and shortly after moving there she met Melvin Alan LaMar. Alan became the love of her life, and they eventually married on October 29, 1960. She was a beautician after graduating from high school and had her own beauty shop in Poseyville, Indiana. She later worked at Guess Beauty Supply, Baer Fabrics, Clayton's Dry Cleaners and eventually retiring as an Administrative Assistant at USI.
Jo Ann loved to paint, sew, read, listen to music, and collect antiques. When she was young, she and Alan loved to square dance, were active in card clubs and she was a member of Eastern Star. She had been a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Poseyville, Indiana.
She is survived by her sister: Rowena Remmel (Richard); 3 children: Scott LaMar (Jerrilee), Kathi Bryant (Darrell Shemwell) and Christopher LaMar (Jenny); 11 grandchildren: Wesley Stone (Rhonda), Misty Adye (Bruce), Jenny Elfreich (Chad), Elliott LaMar (Jessica), Kody Bryant (Keri), Austin Bryant (Harley), Joshua LaMar (Tawna' Moit), Haley Dessauer (Caleb), Bryer LaMar, Duell LaMar and Shawnee LaMar; 15 great-grandchildren and a loving furry companion: Spanky.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband of 55 years: Alan LaMar and a sister: Louise Faulkner.
Funeral services will be held 12 p.m., Friday, October 18, 2024 at the Werry Funeral Home in Poseyville, Indiana with burial to follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Poseyville, Indiana.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time, Friday, October 18, 2024 at the funeral home.
