Jimmie D. Newsome, 68, of Clyde, died unexpectedly on Sunday, May 29,2022 in Teabury, Kentucky, while visiting his brother.
Jim was born in Fremont on March 7, 1954.
He was a 1973 graduate of Clyde High School.
Mr. Newsome is a safety/general manager in trucking throughout his working career. He has been awarded the Safety Director of the Year in both Ohio and Indiana. He was also serving as a Green Creek Township Trustee.
Jim was a member of Masonic Lodge in Green Springs and the Zenobia Shrine.
He was a strong advocate of the Red Cross, giving just under 10 gallons.
Mr. Newsome had a passion for the outdoors! But, his greatest love was his grandchildren! Spending time with them was at the top of his list of activities.
On November 9,1974, he married Deborah Gilbert. She, along with their three children, Douglas (Kendra) Newsome of Clyde; Joshua Newsome of Bellevue and Cassie (Andy) Bricker of Delaware survive. Seven grandchildren, Alyssa, Marissa, Conner; Blaze, Caden; Addie and Olivia, along with brother, Shirl Newsome of Kentucky; Ernie Newsome of Clyde and Jack Newsome of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina survive as well.
His parents Morgan Newsome and Tilda (Page) Newsome Frantz preceded him in death, along with two brothers, Earmal Newsome and Douglas Newsome.
Visitation will be on Saturday, June 4,2022 from 10:00 am until the service at noon at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main ST., Clyde, Ohio. Burial will be in Bakertown Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross in Jim's memory.
