Arun Surath Obituary

Arun M. Surath, of Glenview, passed away unexpectedly on October 27, 2025. He was the beloved son of Hemantha and Lisa Surath, and cherished brother of Samantha Surath.
Arun graduated from the University of Illinois Chicago with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, and honed his technical skills through work at companies such as Lucent Technologies, Google and Capital One.
Outside of his professional pursuits, Arun was an avid sailor who found joy and peace on the waters of Lake Michigan. He competed in regattas, and eventually bought his own sailboat, spending weekends on the water with friends and family. He also spent time rowing and participating in triathlons, enjoying the challenges of learning new sports.
Arun spent many cherished hours exploring the trails and shoreline of Fort Sheridan Forest Preserve and its surrounding areas. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Preservation Foundation of the Lake County Forest Preserves, to help maintain and preserve this special place that he greatly cherished. Arun will be remembered for his passion, sense of humor, vivacious spirit, warm heart, and unwavering love for his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
A memorial visitation will be held Sunday, November 2 from 1 to 3 pm at N.H. Scott & Hanekamp Funeral Home, 1240 Waukegan Road, Glenview.
