Evelyn J. Cordina, 68, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, passed away on February 24, 2025.
Evelyn Else Johnson was born in Roswell, New Mexico, on July 16, 1956. She is the daughter of TSgt Ermon S. Johnson of Clanton, Alabama, and Dora Lassiwe Johnson of Breslau, Germany.
Evelyn grew up in Charleston, South Carolina, where her father retired from the United States Air Force. She graduated from Middleton High School in 1974 and then attended the College of Charleston. Evelyn danced with the Charleston Ballet Company, a proud achievement and the best years of her young life. In 1986, she attended the Charleston Cosmetology Institute, where she earned her diploma. Evelyn began her career as a hairstylist, working for over 25 years. She married Louis J. Cordina on February 15, 1992, at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church.
Evelyn had a vivacious personality and an entertainingly funny sense of humor. Growing up, she was fortunate to travel often and spent almost every summer visiting relatives in Mitterfels, Germany. Evelyn enjoyed adventure, history, music, plants, and cooking. Her greatest joy was her children. She loved animals and always had a pet dog, cats, and other critters along the way. Evelyn treasured her many life experiences.
Evelyn is survived by her husband, Louis Cordina, daughter, Isabella Cordina, son, Evan Cordina, nephew, John Curley, and her uncle, Klaus Hentschel. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ermon & Dora Johnson, sister, Elvy Curley, and her niece, Barbara La Rue.
Evelyn chose Folly Beach, where she had treasured memories of spending time with her father and mother, to send her ashes into the Atlantic Ocean, which she flew over many times.
