Francis (Frank) Eugene Mosier age 94, beloved husband of the late Julia (nee Fife); father of Terry, Patrick (Gayatry), and Kassy Wyman (Dan); grandfather of Julia, Elizabeth, Jessica, Mary, Terrence, John, Isabella, and Henry; brother of Patricia Recupero and the late John (Jack) Mosier; uncle of many.
Frank was born in Kersey Pennsylvania as a son of a Coal Miner and Union Organizer (Clarence) and a homemaker and working Mother (Helen). A son of the depression he worked many jobs during a challenging period and became the Valedictorian and Class President of his High School class along with lettering in many sports. He attended the University of Pittsburgh on a scholarship and graduated with honors and number one in his class for Chemical Engineering. Later in life, he received an honorary Doctor of Science from Marietta College.
Frank accepted a job with Sohio in Cleveland as an Engineer but was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and served his country honorably. He returned to Sohio after the war and worked up the ranks to becoming President and Chief Operating Officer of BP America which purchased Sohio. Among many accomplishments, Frank was instrumental in the funding for the Alaskan Pipeline which resulted in enormous growth for the firm. He was awarded an honorary Commander of the British Empire (C.B.E.) by Queen Elizabeth for his efforts with British Petroleum (BP).
He was intensively involved in civic, political, and social endeavors in the Greater Cleveland area. He was trustee for the University of Pittsburgh, the Cleveland Clinic and John Caroll University among many others. He served on the Board for Sohio, BP America, Society Bank (KeyBank), Centerior Energy, Associated Estates and Boykin Hotel. He was Vice Chairman of the Cleveland Growth Association, Chairman of the Cleveland Boy Scout Council, first Chairman for the Northeast Ohio Science & Technology Council and Chairman & President of the Domed Stadium Corp for a period which eventually resulted in the construction of Jacobs Field and Gund Arena.
Frank belonged to many clubs in the Cleveland area including Westwood Country Club, Pepper Pike Golf Club, Cleveland Yacht Club, the Shoreby Club, Union Club and others. He belonged to Olde Florida Golf Club and Bay Colony Club in Naples Florida.
He loved to golf, watch sports, hunt, and read. Most importantly, he has three children and eight grandchildren that will miss him dearly.
Funeral Mass Friday, March 7, 2025 at 11 a.m. at St. Christopher Church, 20141 Detroit Rd. Rocky River, OH 44116. Interment Lakewood Park Cemetery.
