Mrs. Eva Marie Schiefer, age 93, passed away peacefully on the evening of Sunday, October 5, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at Maplewood Manor of Clio.
Eva was born on March 17, 1932, in Tuscola County, Michigan, to parents Orvil & Martha (Pohr) Cobb. She grew up with her siblings and graduated from Millington High School. On June 3, 1961, she married the love of her life, Hilbert Schiefer. Together they shared countless memories, raised their son, Roger, and celebrated 35 years of marriage before his passing in 1996. Before retirement, Eva worked as a housekeeper. She was formerly a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Millington. Eva enjoyed playing cards, spending time with her sisters, and travelling around the United States. She was a devoted grandmother to her grandchildren and enjoyed baking cookies with them at Christmastime. Above all, Eva loved her family and will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her son, Roger (Mary) Schiefer, Sr.; grandchildren: Katerina (James) Hurren, and Roger Schiefer, Jr.; special nieces, Kathy (Chuck) Albert, and Sandra Birk; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Eva was preceded in death by her husband, Hilbert Schiefer; parents, Orvil & Martha Cobb; sisters: Betty Jacobs, Jenetta Harrison, and Barbara Johnson; and brother, Cecil Cobb.
Memorial donations may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
Funeral services for Eva will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Hanlin Funeral Home - Millington; visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. and last until the time of service. Afterwards, Eva will be laid to rest in Newton-Compau Cemetery next to her husband, Hilbert Schiefer.
