Betty "Betsy" Ross Dengler died peacefully at home on September 29th. Betsy was the daughter of Kathleen and John Douglas Ross. She was born in Greenville South Carolina where she resided until moving to New York City. While living in New York City she took a trip with friends to a Jazz Festival in the Pocono Mountains where she met her husband, the late Reese Leroy Dengler Jr.Betsy married and relocated to the Pocono Mountains where she invited her brother Patrick Ross to work at the family business, " The Hawthorne Inn and Cottages". Pat met his wife, Joan, while working at Hawthorne Inn. They married and had two children, the late Ashley Ross Lansdell and Clifford Ross.
Betsy and Reese started a family and moved permanently to Plantation, Florida. She worked at Plantation Middle School for over 35 years, making lifelong friends Sallie Sherwood and Susan Meyer. Betsy had an active social life, enjoying the performing arts, cooking, shopping, watching the Miami Dolphins and Hurricanes and spending quality time with her daughter Leslie and Son Douglas. She also loved spending time with her grandsons Reese and Ross Dengler and their mother Patricia Dengler.
Betsy is survived by her daughter Leslie Dengler and her life partner Jeffrey Dana, her son Douglas Dengler and his wife Jessica.
There will be a private service for family. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to St Jude's Children's Hospital.
