Donna Marie Abrams
October 30, 1954 – February 2, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donna Marie Abrams, beloved wife, mother, Mimi, teacher, sister, aunt, and friend. Born on October 30,1954, in Plainfield, NJ, Donna lived a life filled with love, creativity, and unwavering devotion to her family, her faith, and her art. She attended St. Joseph's School before graduating from North Plainfield High School. Her love for the arts led her to Douglass College, where she earned her BA and developed the artistic talents that would define her life's work. In 1981, Donna married the love of her life, Jeffry Abrams, and they made their home in Meyersville, NJ, where they raised their two children Dana and Aaron and shared 43 years of marriage.
For over four decades, Donna inspired and mentored countless students as an art teacher and department head at Mount Saint Mary Academy in Watchung, NJ. Her passion for art and teaching was contagious, and her legacy lives on in the many women whose lives she inspired. Beyond her work as an educator, Donna was an accomplished painter, crafter, illustrator, multimedia artist, and a talented sewist.
Donna was a devout member of St. Luke's Catholic Church in North Plainfield for many years, where she attended weekend services and deeply cherished her faith.
Above all, Donna was a doting grandmother, known to her beloved grandchildren as "Mimi." She poured endless love into Cole, Carter, and Cade, and her greatest joy in life was watching them grow and thrive. Her gentle presence, wisdom, and love will forever be treasured by them and all who knew her.
Donna is now reunited with her beloved parents, Mary H. Smith (who passed in 2017) and Edward C. Smith (who passed in 1997). She leaves behind her husband Jeffry Abrams, her daughter Dana Wagner, son-in-law Joel, her cherished grandchildren Cole, Carter, and Cade; and son Aaron Abrams; her brother Robert "Bob" Smith and his wife Elaine; her sister Karen Dugan and her husband Dennis; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. She will also be deeply missed by her loyal dog, Marlee, who was her constant and loving four legged companion.
Donna's warmth, kindness, and creativity touched the hearts of everyone she met. Her family and friends are blessed to have known her, and her spirit will live on in the memories, art, and love she leaves behind. May she rest in peace, forever in the embrace of God's love.
A viewing will be held at Paul Ippolito Berkeley Memorial, 646 Springfield Ave., Berkeley Heights, NJ on the evening of Monday, February 10th from 5:00-7:00 pm. The funeral mass will take place on Tuesday, February 11th at 9:30am in St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church, 300 Clinton Ave., North Plainfield, NJ immediately followed by the internment at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, 95 Mount Airy Rd., Basking Ridge, NJ.

My deepest condolences go out to her family and close friends. Although it has been many years, she was one of my favorite teachers. Her class was always one I looked forward to. She was a beautiful lady, inside and out. May she rest in peace.

Sending wishes for solace to her family and everyone she touched. It has been nearly 40 years since I last saw her, but Donna was a fantastic educator and the first teacher to really encourage my artistic side. She had such a wonderful, positive way of connecting with us students. Thank you, Donna, for sharing your light with the world.
