It is with sadness and love that we announce the passing of Donald Joseph Arrigo, known by his family and friends as Don, on February 8, 2025. Born March 27, 1939, in
Evansville, Indiana, Don's journey through life was marked by his unwavering work ethic, generous spirit, and the love he had for his family and friends. He departed this world, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, perseverance, and dedication.
Don's life story is one of commitment and service to his family, friends and community. After starting work at Kenny Kent, Don's entrepreneurship led him to establish Don & Curly's Alignment and Brake, which secured the city contract for all of Evansville. Don's business drive did not stop there as he went on to open Don's Alignment and Brake, further solidifying his reputation for quality service as an unmatched mechanic who offered a fair and modest price. Ultimately, he founded Arrigo Enterprise, a successful company that managed a variety of properties and businesses.
Don was a devoted husband to his wife of 52 years, Joyce Johnson Arrigo, and a loving father to his children, Starlet (Jason) Claspell and Tiffany (Jim) Pore. Don's joy was multiplied with the birth of his grandchild, River Claspell. Though he was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Alice Arrigo, and his brother, Charles Arrigo, the values his parents instilled in him remained a guiding force throughout his life.
Those who had the pleasure of knowing Don would attest to his ability to befriend everyone he met with and unstoppable smile and wit. He was a hard worker, never shying away from a challenge, and always willing to lend a helping hand without waiting to be asked. Don's love for his family was unparalleled, whether it was a simple family dinner, holiday celebration or road trip.
Don's interests extended to travel, fishing, and friendship with Florida holding a special place in his heart. Daytona Beach, in particular, was a favorite destination where he enjoyed the sunshine, the ocean breeze, and the company of his family. These trips were not just vacations but treasured memories that Don left with his family. His dedication to his family and incredible mechanical abilities can be summed up with a story of one Daytona trip, coming home. Don threw an engine rod and stayed up all night rebuilding the engine in an auto parts parking lot while his family slept. By morning, he finished driving his family safely home.
Don's legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched, in the businesses he built, and those he served so selflessly.
As we bid farewell to Donald Joseph Arrigo, we celebrate a life with purpose, love, and generosity. Don's story is not one of goodbye but one of gratitude for the time we shared with a remarkable man busting with warmth and kindness. He will be remembered not just for what he did, but for who he was-a caring, loving friend, a pillar of his community, and a beloved family man.
Though Don has left this earthly realm, the echo of his laughter, the memory of his big smile, and the lessons he left us with will continue to resonate with us all. We take comfort in knowing that his spirit will forever guide us, just as the stars continue to shine even after they have faded from view.
Rest in peace, Donald Joseph Arrigo. Your journey was one of a kindness, love and joy. We are all the better for having been part of it. Your memory will be cherished, your love will carry on, and your life will serve as an inspiration for generations to come. We will never forget you.
