Helene Rozsahegyi, 98, of
Ocala, Florida, passed away on August 15, the Feast of the Assumption, 2025 in
Ocala, Florida. Helene was born in Oppeln, Silesia, Germany to Vinzent Wiesner and Agnes Schmidt on August 3, 1927. She immigrated from Germany to New Brunswick, New Jersey in the mid 1950's. After receiving a Special Achievement Award and retiring from the US Post Office with 23 years of service, she and her husband, Joseph, moved to Florida. At 65, she passed the Florida Assistant Nursing Certification Exam (scored a 94!) and embarked on a new career as a CNA in hospitals and for home health care, traveled to visit grandchildren and enjoyed family visits from Germany and South Africa. Recent years found Helene playing mahjong, marveling at photos of her grand and great-grandkids and watching recorded concerts of André Rieu. A faith-filled Catholic from her youth, Helene became minister to the sick, rosary maker, Coordinator for the Adoration Chapel, and member of the Legion of Mary at Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Helene is survived by her sons, Joseph (Linda) of Wisconsin, Kenneth (Jane D.), Steven (Laura Parenti) daughter Marianne (John Van Wagoner;) grandchildren Daniel (Amanda Estes) Emily (Michael Murphy), Andréa (Mike Horton), Joanna (Tyler Swenson, fiancé,) Kelsey, Jessica Majors (Kaei,) Jordan Vanwagoner, Jaxon VanWagoner (Paige Bryant, fiancé,) and sisters Elisabeth (New Jersey), Hilde (Germany) and brother Josel (S. Africa) along with many nieces and nephews which she loved keeping in touch with. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, daughter-in-law Jane, and grandson David, her parents and four siblings. Funeral service will be held at Queen of Peace Catholic Church on August 23, 2025 at 8:27AM with Fr. O'Doherty presiding. Burial will follow at a later date. Visitation will be held at Roberts Funeral Home Ocala West Chapel on Friday, August 22nd, from 6:00-8:00PM. Thank you, Mom. We miss you.
