Dean Anderson Obituary

Harold "Dean" Anderson, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at Mercy Hospital in Lebanon, Missouri on February 3, 2025. He was ninety-three years, five months and eleven days of age. Dean was born August 23, 1931, in Villisca, Iowa, the son of Norman L. and Ruby F. Cook Anderson.
When he was a young boy, Dean moved with his family to Phillipsburg, Missouri where he would graduate from Phillipsburg High School in 1951.
Following graduation, he joined the United States Army where he faithfully served from 1952 – 1954 during the Korean War. Dean was a proud veteran and loved his country.
Dean was married on May 28, 1955 to Ruth Hunt. They shared nearly seventy years together and built a life filled with love, laughter and cherished memories.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Ruby; two sisters, Barbara Fohn and her husband Delbert and Deloris Richard and her husband Jack; and one brother, Wayne Anderson.
Dean is survived by his loving wife Ruth; three daughters, Linda Anderson of Lebanon, Missouri, Brenda Stone and her husband Mike of Lebanon, Missouri, and Rhonda Lamke of Altoona, Iowa; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Stenquist of Springfield, Missouri and Ryan Lamke and his wife Becca of Elkhart, Iowa; four great-grandchildren, Madison, Baylee, Bodee and Kade Stenquist; his church family and other relatives and friends.
Dean was known to be a hardworking and honest man. He and Ruth owned and operated Interstate T.V. and Dean Anderson Sales for forty years, selling and repairing televisions and installing T.V. antennas. Dean could often be found perched on the highest point of a house installing an antenna. They operated their business on Commercial Street and were an important part of the downtown retail district.
Dean volunteered as a softball coach for many years. The girls and women who had the opportunity to have him as coach said they learned a lot from him and he was a good coach.
Above all, Dean loved the Lord and was a longtime member of Second Baptist Church.
Dean was a man of few words. He liked to get to the point and not drag things out. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be remembered for his hard work and dedication to his family and his customers.
Funeral service for Dean Anderson will be Friday, February 7, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Holman-=Howe Funeral Home. Friends may call at their convenience. Burial will be in Hufft Cemetery in Eldridge, Missouri.
A memorial to Second Baptist Church has been established and donations may be left at the funeral home.
