David "Dave" Cowan, 73, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital.
Dave was born in Evansville, Indiana on August 31, 1951 to Vernon and Evalon (Littlepage) Cowan. He graduated from Rex Mundi High School in 1969 and owned and operated his own trucking business, Cowan Trucking Inc., for 50 years. Dave was a very hard worker. He loved his truck, muscle cars and working around the house and yard. He was a man of deep faith, attending St. Philip Catholic Church alongside his wife for many years. Above all else, Dave loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
David is survived by his loving wife, Patricia "Trish" (Hayden) Cowan; sons, Jeff Cowan (Katie Coomes), Brad Cowan (Julie), Josh Cowan (Cassie) and Dan Cowan (Larissa Araujo); sister, Treva Pruden (Randy); brothers, Terry Cowan and Roland Cowan (Linda); grandchildren, Shaylin (Greg), Mary Clare, Gemma, Cecily, Karoline, Genevieve, Adley, Jonathan, Emma, Michael, Patrick, Samuel, George and Bento; and by several nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Anna Cowan; and by his brother, William "Billy" Cowan (Mary).
A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at St. Philip Catholic Church, 3500 St. Phillips Rd. S., Mt. Vernon, IN 47620 with Father Ryan Hilderbrand celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 where a Rosary Service will be held at 7:00 pm. Friends may also visit from 9:00 am until Mass time on Wednesday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Philip Catholic Church or Right to Life, 20 NW 3rd St., Ste. 810, Evansville IN, 47708.
