Darlene Emarthle Obituary

Darlene Janis Emarthle, age 68 and a resident of Konawa, Oklahoma passed away March 9, 2025 at Oklahoma City Rehab Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2025 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa. Gary Tomahsah of Elgin, Oklahoma will officiate, and burial will follow at the Alex-Emarthle Family Cemetery located at 35422 Hwy. 39 East of Konawa. Casket bearers are Solomon Garrison, Jonah Garrison, Casey Tsosie, Alex Tsosie, Shawn Walker, and Tyson Walker. Honorary bearers are Calvin Harjo, Neal Harjo, Ricky Harjo, Chebon Emarthle, and Marcus Washa. Darlene will be taken to the home Wednesday, March 12th at 4:00 p.m. for an all-night wake.

Darlene was born August 31, 1956 in Ada, Oklahoma to Alex H. Emarthle and Lois J. (Foraker) Emarthle. She graduated from Konawa High School and received some college credit. She worked as a housekeeper for WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma. She married Robert Bushy, and together they had four children. Darlene was a loving mother and grandmother, and she loved traveling with her family and having family get-togethers because her family was her pride and joy. 

She is survived by two sons, Solomon Garrison and Jonah Garrison, both of Konawa; two daughters, Dr. Michelle Tsosie and husband, Casey of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Tafv Garrison of Ada, Oklahoma; one brother, Alan Emarthle of Canada; four sisters, Debra Harjo and husband, Steve of Seminole, Oklahoma, Denise Emarthle of Konawa, Diane Emarthle of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Melody Emarthle of Konawa; 11 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one grandson, Haydoekeyo Tsosie.
