Clarence Charles Bauer was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on May 18th, 1923 to Clarence George Bauer and Ethel Josephine Hoendel Bauer. Clarence, better known to everyone as "Bauer", has experienced and seen many things in his 100 years, from the great depression to our current day. During WWII at the age of twenty, Bauer volunteered and served in the United States Army. After the war, he attended the University of Cincinnati in Ohio where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Management and later while working full-time, he attended night school at Xavier University of Cincinnati and obtained a Master's Degree in Business Administration. Bauer was a hard-working man his entire life and retired with full pensions from, American Cyanamid in Cincinnati, Formica Corporation a Division of American Cyanamid in Cincinnati and in 1973 he and his family relocated to Tarboro and as Plant Superintendent he was instrumental in the construction of a new Formica plant located on Anaconda Rd. in Tarboro, and lastly, he was employed and retired from Black and Decker of Tarboro. Bauer was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and one of the kindest souls you will ever meet, an honest gentleman through and through. Bauer was an active member of St. James United Methodist Church and the Golden Kiwanis in Tarboro. He was an avid runner his entire life and logged the miles he ran or walked equal to the sum of the circumference of the earth two and a half
times.
Bauer was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Ethel Bauer, his brothers Ray Bauer and Roy Bauer, grandsons David Geaniton, Nicolas Fiumara, and Chris Bauer.
Bauer is survived by his wife of 54 years, Janie Bauer. Continuing his legacy are his sons Don Bauer (Sandy), Steve Bauer (Lois), Bill Staudt, Don Bauer (Mitzi), David Bauer (Ursula), daughters Becky West (Ward), Patti Scott (Snookie), Debbie Hackney. Grandchildren are Steven Bauer, Jennifer Crider, Mary Margaret Johnson, Justin West, Tina Davis, Bobby Stokes, Samantha Bauer, Donna Williams, Lindsey Bauer, David Bauer, Andrew Bauer, Michael Bauer, Angela Thompson, and a blessed number great-grandchildren.
A visitation with family will be held Wednesday, September 27th at 11 am at Carlisle Funeral Home, and a memorial service following at 12 pm in the chapel at Carlisle's.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your favorite charity in his honor.
