Carolyn Walden Obituary
Carolyn "Sallee" Goins Walden, 85, of Princeton, Indiana, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025.
Sallee was born on May 26, 1939, in Lawrenceville, Illinois, to the late Martin and Lorene (Russell) Goins. She married the love of her life, Ulysses Grant Walden, Jr. and together they shared 61 years of marriage before his passing in June 2018.
Sallee had a career dedicated to service. She first worked at Hansens Manufacturing before becoming a school bus driver for the North Gibson School Corporation, where she served as the owner/operator of bus numbers 8 & 10 for over 50 years. Later, Sallee retired from the United States Postal Service, where she worked as a rural postal carrier. Her love for correspondence was evident in the many birthday cards she sent to those special to her, and she took great pride in connecting with others through the mail.
Sallee attended Broadway Christian Church in her earlier years and she is a current member of Church of God Tower Heights. She enjoyed traveling and visiting casinos with Grant, as well as making ceramics. Above all, she cherished time with her family-whether it was camping, family dinners, reunions, or gatherings, she was always at the center. Sallee also loved playing bingo and bunko, always bringing joy to those around her.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Sallee's life was marked by her warmth and dedication. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Sallee is survived by her children, Stephen (Tina) Walden, Lisa (Mark) Bartell, and Kara (Charlie) Wonnell; 9 grandchildren: Stephen II (Lindsey) Walden, Justin (Janis) Walden, Brooke (Bryce) Chandler, Nicholas (Leslie) Bartell, Kaitlin (Michael) Wagler, Kayce (Logan) Nixon, Chase (Katherine) Wonnell, Brittany (Willie) Nelson, and Emily (Hamilton) Carr; and 21 great-grandchildren, with 2 more on the way. She is also survived by her sister, Marva Green.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ulysses Grant Walden, Jr.; siblings: Kathleen Edwards, Joyce Cooper, Murray Kenneth Goins, and Russell Goins; and her great-grandson, Barrett Chandler.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton. A private funeral service will be held at a later date for the family, with burial at Sand Hill Cemetery in Princeton.
