Carol Louise Dunn, 96, of West Hurley, NY, passed away on Wednesday September 17, 2025 at TenBroeck Commons in Lake Katrine, NY. She was born on May 17, 1929 in Kingston, NY and was the daughter of the late Marcus and Louise (Madden) Smith. She lived her entire life in the West Hurley area.
Carol graduated from Kingston High School in 1946 and went on to study at the Moran Business School where she graduated in 1948. Thereafter, she worked for several years at the Metropolitan Insurance Company in Kingston, NY prior to her marriage. She was married on November 15, 1953 to her husband Edward R. Dunn, who passed away on May 16, 2009.
Carol loved entertaining her family, relatives and friends, especially around the holidays. She also enjoyed traveling many times over the years to Ireland with family and friends. Carol was a lifetime communicant of St. John the Evangelist in West Hurley, NY.
She is survived by her daughter, Louise of Clifton Park, NY, a son, Barry (Mia) of Tallahassee, FL and a son, Paul of West Hurley, NY. She is also survived by a grandson, Matthew of Houston, TX and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Carol is predeceased by her sister Arlene Sheeley and brother Bernard Smith.
Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, Inc., 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401, where family and friends may visit on Friday, September 26, 2025 from 4pm to 8pm. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 10am at St. John’s RC Church, 12 Holly Hills Drive, Woodstock, NY 12498. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 322 Foxhall Ave, Kingston, NY 12401. A tribute for Carol may be found at www.KeyserFuneralService.com, where you may leave memories and expressions of sympathy for her family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Carol’s memory may be made to St. John’s RC Church.
