CARLOS GRIEGO Obituary
July 1, 1948 - November 3, 2025
Carlos R. Griego, 77, a resident of Tesuque, NM, passed away peacefully at home on November 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Carlos was preceded in death by his parents, Redolfo and Ruth Griego; brother, Rudy Griego; nephew, Alex Griego; and father- and mother-in-law, Abedon Ortiz Jr. and Maria Lena Ortiz.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Jeanette Veronica Griego; son, Kevin (Jacqueline) Griego; daughter, Samantha (Estevan) Sanchez; and granddaughters, Liliana, Maleaha, and Natalia Griego, and Sophia Sanchez. He is also survived by his siblings, Angie Gomez, Virginia (Fred) Trujillo, and Joseph (Theresa) Griego; sister-in-law, Julia Griego; special sister-in-law, Viola (Robert) Mondragon; and special brother-in-law, Ralph Ortiz (Janice).
Carlos was a devoted husband, father, and "Pampa." He was a U.S. Veteran who bravely served his country in Vietnam and later retired from the New Mexico State Land Office. Carlos fought a courageous battle with cancer for the past two years.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to his caretaker, Meagan Kovac; Dr. Robert Ali and his team; the Amber Care Hospice team; and Ralph Ortiz, Viola, Kimberly, and Nicholas Mondragon for their loving care and support.
A Rosary will be recited at Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe Church in Pojoaque, NM, on Monday, November 17, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the same location. Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery with full military honors.
Serving as pallbearers will be Estevan Sanchez, Danny Gomez, Ralph Ortiz, Christopher Ortiz, Robert Mondragon, and Nicholas Mondragon. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Martinez, Frank Jimenez, and Anthony Cruz.
