Betty Carpenter Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Newbaker Funeral Home - Blairstown on Mar. 2, 2026.
Betty Jane Carpenter, 89, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026.

Born on October 19, 1936, in Barron, Wisconsin, Betty was the beloved daughter of Ervin Bender and Helen Jensen. She grew up with strong family values that she carried with her throughout her life, especially in the loving care she gave to her own family.

Betty was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Phillip Carpenter; her brothers, Gerald Bender and Robert Bender; and her parents.

She is survived by her three children, who were the pride and joy of her life: daughter Joanne Calcagne (Christopher), and sons Michael Carpenter (Michele) and David Carpenter. She was a cherished grandmother to Courtney Miller; Alyssa (Tom); and Michael Carpenter Jr. (Alyssa). Betty was also blessed with ten great-grandchildren: Ayden and Ashlyn Hebert; Olivia Noguerol; Madelyn and Kensi Miller; Thomas and Adelyn Adamsky; and Rhen, Brexton, and Tripp Carpenter. She is further survived by her loving siblings: sister Janet Shipps, sister Anita Bender, and brother Allen Bender.

Betty dedicated 35 years of her career as a secretary for Bank of America in Allamuchy, where she was known for her reliability, warmth, and friendly smile. She took great pride in her work and in the many friendships she formed over the years.

A woman of many interests, Betty had a special love for gardening and flowers, with pansies holding a special place in her heart. She was an active member of the Red Hat Society and a doll club, where she enjoyed fellowship, laughter, and lasting friendships.

Above all, Betty took immense pride in raising her three children and nurturing a close-knit, loving family. Her kindness, strength, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Her legacy lives on in the generations that follow her and in the countless lives she touched with her warmth and grace.

Dear Joanne,
My thoughts are with you at this sad time. And I am reminded of a little pony-tailed girl with the greatest grin. May your mother“s memory and the lifetime of memories be a blessing for you. Carol Cook
