ZEBULON – Angela Barnes, 48, of Zebulon, NC passed away peacefully at her home on March 17, 2025. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and grandmother who touched the lives of everyone she met with her kindness, warmth and unwavering love.
Born on October 25, 1976, Angela was the beloved daughter of Debra McGaughey and Richard Turnage (Stacie). She was treasured by her grandparents, Dan and Diane McGaughey, and was a beloved daughter-in-law to Horace and Barbara Barnes.
Angela had a creative spirit and a passion for making others feel beautiful. She was the proud owner of her own salon, where she spent numerous hours helping clients look and feel their best. Beyond her work, she found joy in fishing, traveling and embracing life's adventures. Angela was an avid reader, particularly of Nicholas Sparks novels, finding comfort in their heartfelt stories. A true music lover, she especially adored Nirvana, often finding solace in their songs.
Angela's greatest joy in life was her family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Marty Barnes; her loving daughter, Megan Patel (Krish); and her treasured step-sons, MJ Barnes (Brooke) and Mason Barnes (Haley). Her two granddaughters, Alayna Patel and Ava Barnes were the lights of her life, and she cherished every moment with them.
She is also survived by her siblings, Shannon Sharp (Brian), Deanna Allen, Allen Turnage (Allie) and Cossie Smith. Angela leaves behind an abundance of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and dear friends who will forever hold close the memories they shared with her.
Angela's kindness, generosity, and love for her family and friends will be deeply missed. Her legacy of compassion, creativity, and adventurous spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
A celebration of Angela's life will take place at Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, 211 W. Third Street, Wendell, NC 27591. Visitation will be held Monday, March 24, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, followed by a service on Tuesday, March 25 at 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to your favorite "No-Kill" shelter.
