Evelyn M. Benner
Born: January 30, 1944 in Streator, IL.
Died: July 24, 2025 in Streator, IL.
Evelyn M. Benner, 81, of Streator passed away Thursday, July 24, 2025 at her home in Streator.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 A.M. Tuesday, July 29th at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator.
Visitation will be from 9-11 A.M. Tuesday, July 29th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be Ronald Benner, Andrew Benner, George Vandensen and Christopher Rudolph.
Born January 30, 1944 in Streator she was the daughter of Douglas and Roma (Kolb) Cox. She married Lawrence J. Benner on April 8, 1967 at St. Anthony Church, Streator.
She is survived by her husband, Lawerence J. "Larry" Benner of Streator; a daughter, Beth (George) Vandensen of Newburgh, Indiana; sons, Stephen (Keith Worley) Benner of Bloomington and Ronald (Michele) Benner of Streator; grandchildren, Andrew (Skyler) Benner of Streator and Christopher Rudolph of Newburgh, Indiana; a sister, Lora (Duane) Wenzlaff of Magnolia; brothers and sisters in law, Richard "Dick" Benner of Streator, Joanne Taylor of Garrisonville, Virginia, Bernadette (Rich) Terrell of Normal and Margaret Rose Benner of Streator; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her father and her mother and step-father Roma and Harley Hinkelman.
Evelyn was raised in the Lostant area by her mother and step-father, Roma and Harley Hinkelman. She attended Lostant Grade School and graduated from Lostant High School in the class of 1962.
Early on she worked for Thatcher Glass Company before getting married and raising her family.
She was a member of the former St. Anthony Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church.
Through the years she enjoyed gardening and working with her flowers. She also enjoyed sewing and playing board games with her loving family.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.
