Myrtle Beach, South Carolina - Andrew Hovancik Jr. (Andy), age 89, originally of Binghamton, NY died on Saturday, December 23, 2023, in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Andy was born at Wilson Hospital in Johnson City, NY, in the Triple Cities area, to his parents Andrew and Florence Hovancik on November 29, 1934. Andy graduated from Johnson City High School as a decorated football player and budding chemist, attending Broome County Community College to study Chemistry.

Andy worked as a foreman at Endicott-Johnson and later Broome Community College before moving to Myrtle Beach SC 20 years ago with his wife of 62 years Yvonne. He enjoyed sports, gardening, and walking the dog (a long line of dachshunds all named Cinderella). He was a daily reader who loved newspapers, Westerns, Science Fiction, and U.S. History.

He was predeceased by his 3 siblings Carol, Norbert, and Gerald (Gerry).

He is survived by his wife Yvonne and his 3 children Andy (Wendy), Damian (Patricia), and Matthew (Barbara) and 3 stepchildren Arthur (Nina), Yvette and David. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren Nathan, Jessica, Drew, Alex, and Victoria and 5 great grandchildren Braeden, Layla, Charlotte, Ian and George.

He loved his family and will be truly missed.
