Susan Levy Obituary

Susan M. Levy 74, a lifelong resident of Keene, NH, passed into eternal rest on December 27, 2024, with her family at her side, at the Cheshire Medical Center Dartmouth Hitchcock, Keene, following a brief illness. Her parents, Warren and Albina (DiGiulio) King welcomed their daughter into the world on May 25, 1950, in Keene, NH. She attended St. Joseph Regional School and later Keene High School, graduating in the class of 1969. Sue excelled at being a mom and loved being a homemaker. "The best job in the world" is what she said! She will be greatly missed by many in our community, especially her husband of 37 years, Steven J. Levy of Keene; her daughter Jennifer (Bauer) Hayes and her husband Ken; her son, Todd Bauer and his partner, Jessica; and her grandchildren, Hannah, Connor, Brady, Sam and Kathryn. Sadly, her son Benjamin "Ben" Bauer predeceased Sue on December 14, 2024, and are now joined together in eternal rest. A brother, Gary King also predeceased her. Services for Susan were held in the Congregation Ahavas Achim on December 30, 2024, laying Susan to eternal rest in the Monadnock View Cemetery, Keene. The family is eternally grateful to the staff of the Cheshire Medical Center ICU for their professionalism and kindness shown to Susan and to the family while she was in their care. For those who wish, donations may be made in Mrs. Levy's memory to the Cheshire Medical Center to support the Intensive Care Unit (checks made payable to the Cheshire Health Foundation with Intensive Care Unit on the memo line) and mail in c/o Cheshire Medical Center, 580 Court Street, Keene, NH 03431.

I was very saddened to hear of Susan's passing. My sincere condolences to her family and friends.

Susan and I spent eight years at St. Joseph School as classmates, then four more at Keene High School.

Her dad and my dad both went to work at The MacMillin Company in Keene in the late 1940's, and were very close friends for the rest of their lives. As a result, I knew Susan long before we entered school together and six-year olds. Our family spent many evenings at the King home on Butler Court. I remember holding her hand in line when we were in first grade. A few of her friends took note, and she simply told them, "I know him!"

We will miss her, but heaven became a brighter place when she arrived there, I am certain of that.

Susan´s passing reminds me of our childhood friendship. We attended kindergarten at Cleveland School together and St. Joe´s for eight years. Our parents were good friends as well so we got to be together quite often. I remember sleeping over her house. Peanut wold tell us to go to sleep as we giggled and giggled into the night. Sometimes I would walk home with Susan during our lunch time at St. Joe´s. Her mom fed us beef stew. After eating, we would walk back to school. My grandparents (Antonio and Carmela Caldarelli) also lived on Butler Court. I still can remember walking from my grandparents to her house to see if she could go sledding with me. And I still have photos of Susan attending my birthday parties. I hope these memories bring some comfort to her family during this sad time.
