Dennis C. Lingle, 82, a resident of Metropolis, passed away at 7:10 a.m. Thursday April 10, 2025, at his home.
Dennis was born Dec. 19, 1942, in Vienna (Johnson County) Illinois. He was the son of William Carl Lingle and Opal Ida Marie (Skelton) Lingle.
On April 6, 1961, Dennis was united in marriage to K. Juanita Goines at the Oak Grove Baptist Church, southwest of Vienna. She survives.
Dennis is also survived by his children, Juanita Diane (Terry) Waid of Metropolis, and Jeffrey Dennis (Laura) Lingle of Wyanet; seven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; a great-great grandson; and a brother, Allen L. (Karen) Lingle of Conway, Arkansas.
In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by an infant sister, Janice Lingle; a sister, Linda Lingle Choate; daughter-in-law, Melissa Lingle; a great granddaughter, Emilee Marie Orrick; a step granddaughter, JoAnna Waid; and a nephew, Mike Lingle.
Dennis was a 1960 graduate of Vienna High School. Following graduation, Dennis moved to northern Illinois where he was employed in the security department at the Elgin State Hospital until his retirement. Additionally, Dennis worked as a parts delivery driver for NAPA Auto Parts stores in the Elgin area.
Dennis was a member of the Four Rivers Corvette Club as well as the H.O.G. (Harley Owners Group) Chapter both located in Paducah, Kentucky. Dennis was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Dennis also enjoyed traveling on his Harley and camping. Often, he would travel with his wife, Juanita. On longer trips he traveled extensively with his brother, Allen.
Dennis was reared in the Baptist faith. However, he and Juanita worshiped together at the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church in Metropolis.
A Celebration of the Life of Dennis Lingle will be conducted at a later date which will be announced.
