John T. Griffith, 88, resident of Lowell, passed away on November 19, 2023 at Brigham and Women's Hospital.

John was born on December 18, 1934 in St. Louis, MO. He was the son of the late Joseph and Maria Griffith. He is survived by his wife, Joan Walsh Griffith; son, Sean Griffith, and his wife, Diana Garvin; daughter, Bridget Hennessy; and three adoring granddaughters, Anna and Ella Hennessy, and Ray Garvin. John is also survived by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Judy and Leo Creegan, Margaret and Joe Sullivan, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Joseph and sister Antoinette.

John, or Mel as he was known to many, lead a rich life that took him to Japan with the US Airforce and France with the Franciscan Order, and eventually, Chicago, where he met his wife, Joan. After marriage, he moved to Lowell, where he worked as a pressman at Sullivan Brothers Printing and was a devoted member of St. Margaret's Parish. He could fix anything and loved helping people. He was a longtime volunteer at the House of Hope and frequent savior to anyone needing house or car repairs. He'll be missed as a greatly generous and beloved family member and friend.

GRIFFITH--In Boston, November 19, 2023, at Brigham and Woman's Hospital, John T. Griffith, 88, a Highlands resident and the beloved husband of Joan (Walsh) Griffith. Family and friends are invited to John's FUNERAL MASS on SATURDAY, November 25, 2023 at 10 o'clock at ST. MARGARET OF SCOTLAND CHURCH, 374 Stevens St. Lowell. PLEASE GO DIRECTLY TO THE CHURCH. Burial will follow in Tewksbury Cemetery.
