Charles Buck Obituary

Charles W. "Chuck" Buck of Lewistown passed away on July 12, 2024, at the age of 100 years and 7 months. Dad was born on December 9, 1923, on the family ranch N.E. of Grass Range, Montana.

Dad was the son of Alphonso and Golda (Stockhan) Buck. He was the 7th of 13 children. Dad left home at an early age, and he became a master at every job he did. Breaking horses, farm and ranch work, being the head of a combine crew at the age of 17. He was drafted into the Marine Corps and served in WWII, in the South Pacific in infantry and reconnaissance as a Sergeant. Returning home, Dad went to work for the Montana Highway Department. Dad worked for the state for over 30 years, as a project engineer.

On February 7th, 1948 he married Mildred E. Todd. They enjoyed their family, hunting, fishing, and camping. Dad loved working with his hands making frames out of old barn wood, planters, and many other things.

Dad is survived by his son, Gordon Buck of Helena, Montana; daughters, Mona (Lewis) Harrell of Lewistown and Charlene Deutchscher of Laurel, Montana; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend Barb Ward.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred; daughter, Yvonne; grandson, Kurt; his parents; and 12 brothers and sisters.

Funeral Services for Charles will be Saturday, July 20th, 2024, 1:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow at Lewistown City Cemetery. Friends are asked to make memorial donations to Hospice of Central Montana, First Presbyterian Church, or a charity of your choice and they may be left at Creel Funeral Home.
