I will always remember and cherish my memories with Helen. She was such a special childhood friend. I have memories of us swimming, watching movies and eating her mom’s special popcorn, going to a Bama game, and obsessing over teen heart throbs. She was so vibrant, hilarious, and full of personality. Sending love, thoughts, and many prayers to the Abele family.

My favorite memories of Helen all come from our last semester together at BSC. From going to Europe together to having multiple classes together, I am lucky that I was able to spend so much time with her and get to share those experiences with her. I will always remember the sleepover we had the night before graduation. There weren´t many people left on campus and all our things were packed up, but we had a blast together. She made me laugh, and she was the kindest and most inclusive and intentional friend. I will miss her dearly

There was one night that I´ll always remember. We went and played Mario party in my dorm room and we quickly followed it by a cookout run with music blaring and laughter echoing. Helen is such a delight and will be missed dearly.

I will never forget teaching Helen to dive into the swimming pool. Learning to dive is hard for lots of people and it wasn't easy for Helen, but with trust in me (what a gift, to have had her trust!) and determination, she overcame her fears and the weirdness of going headfirst into deep water. It was such fun to watch her confidence grow! I loved that child.

Helen was an absolute light in this world. I´m so honored to have called her my friend. Her joy for football, especially Alabama will always make me smile. I loved getting texts and messages from her about things I was doing. She constantly supported me and my family and we are forever grateful for her. Helen, we love you so much.

Being in Chi Omega there were many strong personalities. While I was a bit more quiet, Helen always made the point to come say "hi" to me and make me feel part of any group there was. She will truly be missed as it was a blessing to be in the same room as her.

Thanks to Helen, I don´t think I´ll see another Chick Fil A sports promotion and not think about her. She would tell or call me: "Martha Louise!!! Check your phone we get a free chick fil a sandwich!!!"

I loved driving with Helen in my car and we would scream music at the top of our lungs. Specifically, Taylor Swift of course.

My first memory of Helen was my freshman year at BSC when she invited me to her dorm room to watch Alabama football. It was one of the first times I truly felt at home in College.

Helen was an icon of Birmingham-Southern. She was friendly and welcoming to everyone. She was so involved, and brought such a great attitude to anything she was a part of, whether it be a social gathering or a study session. We spent so many nights in the library studying for our management classes. I would NEVER have passed those classes without her help. We are so, so blessed to have known her.
