Cheryl Grace Anders was known by many names in her life.

Moma.

Wife.

Little red-headed freckle-faced woodpecker.

Rosebud.

Red.

Squirrelly.

Kk.

She was born May 10, 1965 to Richard William and Bessie Grace Johnson. On July 22,1989 she married the love of her life, James Anders and on April 22nd,1999 welcomed her pride and joy, her BB (beautiful baby), Brandie Leigh Anders.

Cheryl worked for Farm Fresh, Southco, Winn Dixie, and Sisters Nursing Home in her early adulthood but found joy in helping children in the foster system. Along with her husband and daughter, the family fostered multiple children throughout the years together. Along with her service as a foster parent, Cheryl was a member of the Fremont Auxiliary Squad as well. Family was very important to Cheryl and after her parents passed, Cheryl took in her sister, Heather Johnson and brother Dean Lynn. Cheryl, the baby of four biological children, was the big sister to four adopted children, was always the one to go to for a chat on the phone, dates out with her nieces and nephews, sharing stories about her life and never met a stranger. Cheryl always made sure to make sure you knew you were cared about and loved.

Cheryl's goal was to regain strength in her legs to be able to walk again. After a long battle with continuous illnesses, Cheryl now walks in Heaven, healed of all her ailments and worries with those who preceded her in death: her parents and her in-laws, Julia Lane, Donnell Anders and Pete Lane.

Set on to carry her love and care for others is her loving and dutiful husband, James and their daughter; Brandie. Cheryl's memory and love are also passed on through her siblings: Dean Lynn, Mike (Lynn) Johnson, Darryl (Phyllis) Johnson, Richard Westbrook, Heather Johnson and Rose (Rob) Anderson as well as seventeen nieces and nephews and their families. In addition to her family, Cheryl was loved by many and is survived by many life-long friends.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the many nurses and caregivers who assisted Cheryl throughout her years of illness and rehabilitations.

Cheryl requested that those who plan to attend her celebration of life not wear black. Her family would also like to extend an invitation to follow Cheryl's philosophy on life: Treat people how you would like to be treated. (Matthew 7:12)

Arrangements are as follows: Mount Carmel Church in Pikeville, NC on July 7, 2024 at 3:00pm.

I miss you oh so much kk, you've taught me so many life lessons and you've always made me feel heard, I will miss our KK talks and your chocolate strawberry cakes, your family stories and knick-knacks you had, the way you fed rock peanut butter cups and called maverick "george", the way you talked with aunt roise and the way you loved brandie. How you admired my momma and miss Tina for raising me and Gabe, how you tried to keep me and Gabe close, how you talked about your brothers, and the stories of how you were sassy towards them, the way you took in everyone, whether they deserved it or not, your way with kids, how you were so accepting and so open to talking to and helping them, the way you felt about situations and how you never said "no" without giving your reason, how you always kept family first, and how you were so excited for Christmas. I love you kk. I feel like I took you for granted, you are my angel and I need you by my side.

James Anders and Brandie,

Was just looking and saw your loss. Did not know, but did know she was not well. My prayers and thoughts are with you and with all the "youth" of Living Waters Church. With love,

I will always remember Cheryl´s love and devotion to her family: both those of blood and those chosen. Cheryl´s heart was wide open, and she cared deeply for others. Brandie, she´s left you a legacy of which you should be proud, and I hope you continue to hear from people about how much your mama impacted their lives.

I've enjoyed many occasions with Cheryl and could not ask for a more caring and giving person. She made light of any given situation and was a fun person to be around, the kind that put a smile on your face. She was natured like her mom, which was so special and I am so lucky to have become friends with her and her family. I'm so sorry for your loss, the world has truly lost a remarkable person. Tell mama I said hey. Love yal
