I am his nephew and I always remeber starting Labor Day weekend with my dad to go work on his house. It would be amazing every year better than the last. I often imagine him looking down and seeing how proud of not only are family he is but anybody who met Howard knew how loving and kind he was and how many peoples lives he changed.

To Lynne, Jeff and Rachel, Kim and Paul,
Our deepest condolences.
We have known Howard since 1979.
He was not just our tax specialist but first of all our friend, a family member to be exact.
Our hearts are broken, shattered....
We moved to Santa Clara from Long Beach 2 years ago and we made sure to drive down to see Howard at his home with some homemade Challah breads (one with raisins).
Howard would show us his backyard We were in awe everytime seeing the child still in Howard with his love for Disney.. and oh boy
Howard´s Halloween parties were just AMAZING!!!
We had plans to meet in the Summer of next year in Paris and Scott and I talked to take Howard to the Champs Élysée where we know of a great ice cream spot.
We are so sad.
Last February Howard was going to see a play with you Lynne in Long Beach and was running kind of late.
We saw his excitement to get you Lynne and get real fast to the showtime.
Drive safe, Howard ( Scott and I said at the same time.)
We will meet again, Howard.
We loved you.

I am so sorry to hear of Howard's passing. He was a fraternity brother who helped guide me from my move to Los Angeles in 1994 through the phases of life. He was a steadfast friend, mentor, guidance counselor and brother.

Halloween in Mar Vista will never be the same. Howard was so generous with his home and amazing Halloween decorations that could stand up to any professional haunted house. All four of my sons so enjoyed visiting over the years. RIP Howard and thanks for the memories.

To the family Howard Brightman: I´m very sorry for your loss and will continue praying for you in these challenging times. Growing up, my siblings and always referred to him as "Uncle Howard" even though we weren´t actually related. He was great friends with my dad, David, and would visit us every May, check in on us regularly, and always wished us well on holidays and birthdays. I´ll always remember all of the trips to Cedar Point and Skyline Chili him, my dad and I would go on when he visited. I´ll always miss and remember him by his enthusiasm and how friendly he was to everyone. Even complete strangers. We need more people like him on this planet. Below, I wanted to send this photo I had of him. I looked at it after hearing the news and thought it well represents what a warm and friendly person he was. (And with his shirt, his sense of humor) I´ll forever miss you, Uncle Howard.

To the Family of Howie Brightman:
This sincere expression of sympathy from a Canadian Lambda Chi Alpha brother should come as no surprise. Howie touched a lot of people in many places.
For 36 years, I was part the annual "Indy 500 Race Weekend" festivities hosted by Lambda Chi Alpha CEO George Spasyk which Howie also faithfully attended. Along with Howie, I am also a member of the "Order or Merit", which honors those brothers who have provided a diverse array of volunteer support to one or more undergraduate chapters in Canada and the USA. Fewer than 350 of our almost 300,000 members have received this recognition.
Howie & I also had an interest in certain areas of history. I recall him telling me of the volunteer hours of his father Nate, who restored the radio system on the "Queen Mary" which is berthed in Long Beach Harbor. I have visited that attraction on two occasions to remember two school friends who travelled from England to Canada with their war bride mothers, immediately after the conclusion of World War II.
Farewell my friend. I will miss you.
Sincere sympathy,
Ronald G. Holland

Howard was my friend and my trusted tax professional for 20+ years, and he was such a wonderful, wonderful spirit. His passion for Halloween and the extravagant spectacle he created each year for it were amazing, and my partner Peter and I so enjoyed being part of the team that made its creation such a wonder. We are both so very, very, very sad, and we are going to miss Howard so much, and always. May his sweet, smart, sardonic spirit soar now, free. May his memory be a blessing to all who loved him in this life.

Howie helped guide the UCLA Lambda Chi chapter over many years as an alumni advisor, providing invaluable guidance and advice. He was especially critical to the continuity and success of Lambda Chi's annual award winning "Fun House" at the UCLA Mardi Gras. He helped the project team with planning, construction and trouble-shooting, without his extensive knowledge and experience it would have been impossible to successfully execute this huge project year after year. Howie's dedication to service and others made him unique - we will miss him!

I remember Howard from his years as a Lambda Chi alumni consultant and later as a friend. So sorry to hear this news. Such a generous and exceptionally sincere human being. Someone for whom you could always be assured would be there as a friend. Levels of dependability that aren´t often enough noticed or valued. Very sorry to see he passed - a good man!

I have had the pleasure of knowing Howard and his father as well for many years. Not only as a tax guy but as a great friend and advisor.
As all who know him are aware there is no one who better knows how to celebrate Halloween Than Howard!!!! Many years ago he would call whenever he had a problem with his spa or the pool pump, would always enjoy going out to help him!!! Howard did our family a lot of good over the many years we have known him!! RIP Howard!!! WE love you and you will be greatly missed!!!

Lynne, it had been many years since I saw Howard Lee, but I remember him as a really awesome guy. He came to my parents' house to visit while I was still living there. I think it was with Aunt Eve and Uncle Nate. We talked a lot about everything and he was so positive about everything he spoke to me about. I loved seeing pictures of his house on Halloween. I decorate my home, but it was NOTHING compared to his house. I will miss seeing those pictures and hearing from and about him. My heart aches right now, just as it did when Aunt Eve and Uncle Nate passed away.

Lynne, every time you spoke of your brother, you had a very magical sparkle in your eyes showing just how much you treasured him and forever will. Your eternal love for him I believe will continue to warm his soul. So deeply sorry for your unexpected and profound loss of your brother. His legacy will live on in so many. Why the good ones die young, I will never understand. But I believe G-d will laugh at all his puns and surely Heaven became even more beautiful the day Howard entered those pearly gates.
