Doris Sheahan Obituary

Doris "Dolly" (Koeppel) Sheahan

Whitelaw - Doris "Dolly" (Koeppel) Sheahan, age 90, passed peacefully on December 23, 2020 at St. Mary's Home, Manitowoc, WI.

Dolly was born on April 24, 1930 in Cato, WI, daughter of George and Elsie (Siebert) Koeppel. She graduated from Valders High School and earned her teaching certification from Manitowoc County Normal. On July 15, 1961, she married William J. Sheahan at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Whitelaw, where they also built their family home.

Dolly began her teaching career in a one room schoolhouse in Stark, WI and later in Grimms, WI, where she taught all students, grades 1st - 8th, brought firewood in for the wood stove and pumped water each morning before the students arrived. She retired from Reedsville Public Schools after a 35-year teaching career where she touched the lives of many students.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, William Sheahan of Whitelaw, one son and daughter-in-law Russell (Susan) Sheahan of Waunakee, WI; and two daughters; Kay (David) Teteak of Crystal Lake, IL., and Kelley Baryenbruch, Appleton, WI, five grandchildren: Anthony, Alec, Nicholas, Victoria, and Connor; two step-grandchildren, Anthony and Audrey; two step great grandchildren, Autumn and August, three sisters-in-law, Lorraine (Schuh) Koeppel, St. Mary's, Manitowoc; Ruth (Bob) Woldt, Manitowoc; and Janice (Willy) Rahn, Chilton; other relatives and friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by an infant sister, Marian; twin brothers, Vernon and Herbie Koeppel; three brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law: Raymond Sheahan, Edward and Lenora Sheahan, Donald (Ruth) Remiker, Arleen and John Rathsack, and Dolores Teteak.

A private family mass and burial was held Monday, December 28, 2020, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Whitelaw, presided by Father Richard Klingeisen.

Miss Koeppel was my teacher at Grimms and I have fond memories of her, one being after playing in the snow placing my wet mittens on the wood stove to dry. I was sorry to hear of her passing and send my sincere sympathy. I close using my maiden name
