William Maillet Obituary

William "Bill" Maillet
1928-2021
William Anthony Maillet, age 93, passed away at his home in Houston late on the evening of December 22, 2021, after a courageously fought battle with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). Bill was born July 11, 1928, in Lockport, New York to the late William Maillet and Cecelia Robie Maillet. Bill leaves behind, the love of his life, Mary Lou Maillet, who he has proudly been married to for 66 years. He is survived by his four children; Jeff (Lane Ann), Peter (Melinda), Patricia Maillet Smith (Greg), and Maureen Maillet (Kyle Martin); grandchildren Michelle, Jeffrey, James, Blake, Dylan, Mackenzie, Madison, Hayden, Liam and Margot, and great grandchildren Elizabeth, Judah, Hazel, and Ezra; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill was a graduate of Lockport Senior High in New York. Bill enlisted in the United States Army in 1950, serving until 1953. He received a Bronze Star, Infantry Combat Medal and Korean Medal, as well as other honors for his service. At the University of Buffalo, he earned a B.A., graduating in 1954. For the next forty years, Bill worked in construction and mining machinery in both foreign and domestic markets. In 1995, after selling his company, Bill retired and did consulting work until 1998. He was fondly known as 'Daddy Bill' to his employees.
Bill was a devout Catholic for his 93 years. He especially enjoyed having the family together for holidays and birthdays. He loved good conversations with friends around the kitchen table, was a vivacious reader of books and an accomplished poet.
Bill dedicated a good portion of his life to helping those who needed support. He touched many lives over forty-one years of sobriety, helping countless individuals in his lifetime.
This one life has touched many people. He is loved by all who knew him.
A memorial Mass and celebration of Bill's life will be held at 1:30pm on Friday, January 7th at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Inurnment of Mr. Maillet's cremains to include military honors will take place at the Houston National Cemetery on January 12th at 1:30pm.
