Eve Denton died at the age of 95 on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024. She was born Eva Gertrudes Gizella Nielsen on Oct. 5, 1929 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and lived a full, rich life with her husband of 61 years, Earl, their four children, and her many friends.
Eve moved to the United States with her parents in 1931 and lived all over the country for the next 20 years, from New York City to Los Angeles, and many places in between. She graduated from high school in San Bernardino, CA, in 1947, and graduated second in her class from San Bernardino Valley College in 1949. On Feb. 23, 1952, Eve married the love of her life, Earl Denton. Together they lived in many more places, including New Mexico, Colorado, and finally Arizona, raising their children along the way.
Upon Earl's retirement in 1989, Eve and Earl embarked upon a life of travel and adventure, visiting all seven continents and well over 30 countries. They also took up bird watching, viewing over 500 species around the world. Eve was a gifted writer and storyteller with an outstanding sense of humor and a sharp wit. Always the life of the party, she cherished time spent with friends, both old and new. She was very active in the lives of her children, dedicating a great deal of time and energy to them, and she delighted in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchild.
Eve is survived by her three daughters, Sandra (Maurreen) Nemeth, Kristin Denton, and Laura (Tom) Schaff; one son, Eric Denton; two granddaughters, Delaly Quist and Audrey Denton; and one great-granddaughter, Kianga Hoover. She was predeceased by her husband, Earl, in 2013.
Donations may be made to the Friends of Madera Canyon or the Green Valley Food Bank. Memorial services will be held in March.
