CLAYTON HOOVER Obituary

(LARRY) CLAYTON HOOVER (Larry) Clayton Hoover, 75, of Blue Springs, Mo., went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at Research Medical Center. Celebration of life will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, October 26 at First Baptist Church Blue Springs, 4500 Little Blue Parkway, Independence, MO 64057. The family will greet friends from 5 - 7 p.m. prior to the service. Clayton had grown to love the Word of God, the Bible, and studied for hours to prepare his Sunday School lessons at our church home, Living Stones Church, Blue Springs. He would want everyone to know, Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me". John 14:6. Clayton was born September 16, 1948, and adopted as an infant by his adoring parents, Abe and Margaret (Foster) Hoover. He spent most of his growing up years in Independence, graduating from Van Horn High School in 1966. He enlisted in the Air Force in the Fall of 1966. Before heading off to serve during the Vietnam War, he married Sandra Dryer in 1967 and had one son, Matthew, in 1968. Clayton and Sandra welcomed their second son, Adam, in 1971. Clayton served on the Lead Load Team (bomb loaders) at the Royal Thai Air Force Base at Takhli, Thailand from 1969 to 1970. Sgt. Hoover was honorably released from active duty in March of 1970. He joined Lexington Plumbing as an apprentice plumber in 1970, attended and graduated in 1975 from the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Local 8 Training Center in Kansas City. In 1974 Clayton married Nedra Gordon Hoover and they enjoyed 48 wonderful years together. He owned and operated Hoover Plumbing and then Parkway Plumbing Blue Springs from 1975 until 2023. Clayton loved football and thoroughly enjoyed being a part-time member of the sideline chain crew for the Mizzou football games. Clayton was part of the Mizzou Chain Crew who was proudly inducted into the 2021 Missouri Sports Hall of Fame. He also enjoyed running the sideline chain crew for the Blue Springs High School football games for many years. Preceded in death by his first wife Sandra, his parents Abe and Margaret Hoover, his son Matthew Hoover, and half brother Jim Clingan. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Nedra; son and daughter-in-law Adam and Shauna Hoover of Grain Valley; grandchildren Emilee, Alec, Jack, and Max Hoover; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and -nephews; and cousins. Clayton felt very blessed to have found his biological siblings over the past 15 years - brother Mark (Donna) Clingan; brothers Charlie (Juli) and Daniel (Robin) Bell, and sister Jeanna (Rob) Cissell. Clayton was my go to plumber over the past 40 years. He was the one of the nicest and hard working individuals I have ever known. So going to miss calling on him when I need plumbing help. No one respected more!
I am deeply sorry to his wife and family having lost him.
May God bless all of you.

Clayton was a great friend and classmate. He was a talented plumber and always repaired my plumbing with a short phone call. He enjoyed sharing family time with Nedra, Adam , and Matt. I was Adam's teacher and loved to share my memories. Clayton will always be remembered as a special friend and plumber. May God Bless him and his family.

Clayton was a special friend and classmate. We shared fun times and he enjoyed repairing any plumbing jobs I had in need. Most of all he shared family time and how proud he was of Adam and Matt. I was Adam's teacher and liked sharing his school days. Clayton will forever be remembered as a classmate, friend and a talented plumber. May God Bless him, Nedra and his family.

I am Clayton Hoover's first cousin. I remember all the fun times at Christmas when all the Hoover's would get together. I would also think of him every year on my birthday because it's the same day. He will be missed but not forgotten.

Clayton was our long time friend and plumber for rental properties and us personally. We called him the clean plumber. There appeared to be never a smudge on his clothes. When my husband had a severe stroke, he would help me through our plumbing needs at our commercial building promptly. He became a good friend through our years of knowing him. What a great man, so proud I knew him. Dave and Linda Webb
