Bondurant - Mary Catherine Leonard (Cathy Leonard, Cathy Hayworth, Cathy Fields), age 55, of Bondurant, passed away June 10, 2021, in her home.

Cathy Leonard was born on July 22, 1965, in Independence, Missouri. She briefly lived in Hawaii as a child and grew up in Granger, Iowa, attending Assumption Catholic School and graduating from Dowling Catholic High School in 1983. Cathy married her first husband Mike Fields in 1989. They lived in Colfax, Iowa, and had two sons, Ryan and Eric; Cathy and Mike divorced in 1993. Cathy married her second husband James "Jim Bob" Hayworth in 1999. They lived in Bondurant, Iowa, and had a twin daughter and son, Jenna and Jacob; Cathy and James divorced in 2021.

Cathy loved being a mom and took immense pride in all four of her children and their differences, though her two grandsons may have officially been her favorites. She was full of life and love and truly enjoyed helping and doing for others. There was never a dull moment with Cathy. She touched many lives with her abounding sense of humor, hearty laugh, and great big smile. Cathy had a larger-than-life personality, she was a master of sarcasm and could light up any room she entered. If she couldn't help lift your spirits, she was an amazing listener and shoulder to cry on. Cathy found it hard to sit still and always had a project or something to do. She was an excellent cook and a very hard worker who loved being outside. She loved the sun, saltwater, and beaches and was most always tan. Above all, Cathy was universally loved and leaves behind a tremendous void in countless lives. She will be greatly missed.

Cathy is preceded in death by her brother Scott Leonard, her stepmother Vi Leonard, and her mother Kay Heimes. She is survived by her father Jerry Leonard with his wife Jackie; her stepfather Ken Heimes; her sister Patty Nolan with her children Maureen and John; her son Ryan Fields with his wife Kaylie and sons Scott and Spencer; her son Eric Fields with his wife Elizabeth; her daughter Jenna Hayworth; and her son Jacob Hayworth with his fiancée Rachel.

Cathy's impactful life will be celebrated on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at Iles Dunn's Funeral Home located at 2121 Grand Avenue in Des Moines, Iowa. Cathy was cremated per her wishes and her family will greet loved ones and friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Cathy will be eulogized at 7:00 p.m., after which her family encourages everyone to share purposeful memories, large or small, about Cathy with all in attendance.
